Here are all the logistics you need to join us in Pensacola.
The Florida Trust for Historic Preservation Annual Conference is held every year and is the premiere historic preservation event in the state. At the Florida Preservation conference attendees will learn from industry leaders and each other, be inspired by real-life preservation projects and build important connections in their network. The Florida Trust has been trusted as serving Florida as the state's nonprofit historic preservation organization for 40 years and is a Statewide Partner with the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
This year we are focusing on providing attendees with accommodations which are central to the historic downtown. This will enable a walkable conference, with plenty of opportunities for you to discover and experience Pensacola's downtown renaissance. Due to Pensacola's unique size and design, this means we will not have a centralized conference hotel, but rather several hotels to accommodate a variety of needs and price points. The Florida Trust has rooms blocked at the following hotels. Please make your reservation online or call to make your reservations.
101 E. Main St., Pensacola, FL 32502; FTHP Special Room Rate of $135. Call 1-888-HOLIDAY or the hotel direct at 850-433-2231 to make your reservations. Complimentary parking - fee waived for FTHP attendees.
Mid Century Modern: Sole Inn and Suites
200 N. Palafox St., Pensacola, FL 32502; FTHP Special Room Rate of $109. Call 850-470-9298 to make your reservations.
Please note each hotel has its own parking policy.
The deadline for room reservations is Tues., April 24. If you call to make your reservation, please be sure to mention you are with the Florida Trust to receive the discounted room rate.
Every effort will be made to accommodate participants with accessibility and mobility issues, including transportation, if needed, from hotels to meeting locations and special events. Participants are reminded that many historical and private buildings do not have elevators and require climbing steps. Buses and trolleys may require the ability to maneuver steps and may drop off participants some distance from the destination. Some tours will include walking segments. Please contact the Florida Trust prior to registration to determine accessibility of activities, and how we can make the Florida Preservation Conference a great experience for you!
Continuing Education Credits
The Florida Trust for Historic Preservation offers Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) with two professional organizations: the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the American Planning Association (APA/AICP).
The Florida Trust will file with the AIA on your behalf. The APA/AICP requires individuals to submit CEUs to them directly. We will provide individuals who register for these credits with the appropriate certifcate for them to submit.
2018 Florida Preservation Conference sessions and workshops may also be credited for other organizations' CEUs. All other professions will report CEUs with their individual licensure boards. We will provide certificates of completion to those individual attendees, so they may then file the credits with the appropriate organizations. Let us know if you will require these certificates.
Please note attendees must sign in at each session for which they would like to receive CEUs.
Florida Trust Student Scholars
Continuing our investment in the next generation of preservation practitioners, students are invited to apply for an opportunity to share their research at the conference. Selected abstracts will be shared at the conference as brief presentations during sessions that relate to their research and selected posters will be on display in the Marketplace. Interested students can find more information and application materials here. As an added benefit, students are not charged registration fees for the educational program of the conference.
